Albin spotting

Post by Binford »

As I drove by Kitsap Marina in Port Orchard, Wash., today, an Albin 25 caught my eye, despite the aftermarket hardtop. Not too terribly many Albins in the Pacific Northwest so it kind of jumped out at me! Boat's name is Summer Song. It was sitting on a brand new Salt King trailer, so I suspect it was there to get fitted to its new trailer. Looked great. (Kitsap Marina is a dealer for King trailers--awesome trailers. I have two 2011 models for my Glasplys.)

Anyway, I stopped and took a few pictures to post here. Perhaps the owner is a forum member? Looks like a pretty good boat.

Spot an Albin someplace? Snap a picture and post it here. Always fun to see where Albins are spotted.....

Tim: If you can run the owner down please let that person know of the NW Rendevous activities. Dave is keeping a list of owner's and email addresses if you are able to secure that information. Since you plan to attend the Seattle Boat Show pre- rendevous meet that info could be pasted along as well. Thank you.

I've got to go by there again tomorrow and will see if it's still there. If so, I'll slip a note inside about the AOG forum and the PNW Rendezvous with Dave's contact info.

Meanwhile, I spotted another A25 with an enclosed cockpit pictured at the top of page 103 in Pacific Nor'West (an Internet magazine): http://digital.turn-page.com/i/220086

Mission accomplished, Howard! Image

The Albin was still there today so I stopped by and slipped a note, safely enclosed in a Ziploc bag, under the canvas into the cockpit in which I told the owner about the AOG forum and gave him Dave's e-mail for information about the PNW Rendezvous.

TIM: Good work. It is all about the NW Group growing and getting those interested in Albins involved. Nice looking 25. Our NW Member Pat will be impressed.
Thank you,

Dave, did you ever receive an e-mail contact from the owner of Summer Song?

Just wondering if my efforts paid off....

Tim,

I appreciate your efforts. Haven't heard from owner. There is a 27 at my marina. I'll try the note approach with that boat if I don't happen across the owner. My boat is two docks away.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. Hopefully they'll get around to contacting you. Albins are relatively thin out here. It's good to keep in touch with one another.

We printed up business cards for our Glasply.org forum to hand out (or slip under the canvas as the case may be!) to other Glasply owners to let them know about our website and annual Rendezvous. Might be a thing to make and pass out along with the calendar, eh?

So there's a 27 at the Poulsbo Marina, eh? I'll have to wander the docks up there again sometime. (Probably in a gated area though, eh? Bummer....)

Nice looking boat! I'd rate the hard top as a plus. Looks like a pro job. If you look at the photos on the Albineers of BC site, hard tops seem like a common upgrade. Will keep an eye out for this one when we're cruising up there in the San Juans this summer. We'll be at the NW rendezvous too, already booked our slip with the group at Roche Harbor. Besides the hard top, the bow and stern rails look either custom or very late model. Wish we had the split stern rails instead of the way ours go all the way across. Makes it harder to climb down onto the swim platform and access the dinghy.
