V Berth Drain 28

Post by northandsouth »

Did some looking around and did not sea a post on this, please redirect me if you can.
I am installing an AC (air conditioner) in forward thruster area under the berth. There always seems to be a little water in that area, some have said they installed a bilge pump "up" there?- sure there will be a little more water, potential for more water after AC install. Can that area drain into the bilge, can a hole be placed low to allow water to drain to bilge.

There are 3 bilge compartments in/under the cabin of the 28. The main bilge area is under the lift out floor hatch between the galley and the head. The next compartment going forward is under the dinette and accessed by unscrewing the wood platform the dinette base is mounted to. And the forward most compartment is under the forward most section of the V where the thruster motor is. All three bilge sections are connected by "mouse hole" openings so to answer your question yes that fwd most area should drain into the main bilge. Pull the platform under the table and check the fwd mouse hole for debris that could be blocking the fwd most area from draining. Some have installed the extra fwd pump in the main bilge or under the dinette as that's the lowest point she she is at rest.
