You need to break out the volt meter. Find out if you have wire to the bulb, then back to the bus bar.

Re: Wiring of new transom light with new wire
I took the black and red wire and hooked them up to the bus bar and the light lite, so I know the light works .... my question is on the switch for the running lights there is probably 6 wires connected to the switch... were do I connect the red and black wires ?? thanks

Re: Wiring of new transom light with new wire
That switch has two positions, one is for the running lights and the other is for the anchor light. You will see two groups of red wires on the either side of the back of the switch. Turn on the running lights and check which side has voltage and that is where you connect the red wire. I cannot remember offhand where the black wire goes but look at the other pairs to see where their black wire goes. Do the running lights on the bow work? I mention this because it has been my experience with electrical problems that it is usually the connectors, the switch, or the fixture and almost never the wire that is at fault.

I've got to remove my switch sometime soon as my forward running light isn't working yet it does work when switched over to anchor. If I get a chance this week I'll do it then and take a picture.

I didn't need to remove the switch afterall - simple fix, one of the spade connectors had come off the terminal.
