Power cords

Post by Serenity »

I had to order a 50 amp to 30 adapter for the beast. I use a company in Ohio called Electric Cordsets and their web address http://www.elecordset.com. Their prices are excellent for power cords and adapters.

John Collins has posted a link for power cords via the AOG Store in the Home Page. The link is http://www.albinowner.com/hightide.html The prices are great.

Full disclosure: I am a brand representative for Marinco.

When it comes to something like a shorepower cordset or adapter, you get what you pay for. And it maybe it's just me, but it's already a bad idea to use a 30 amp shorepower cordset to run a 50 amp shorepower system (though I understand why people do it, and in fact do it myself all the time); doing so with an off-brand, bargain-basement-price, adapter not specifically designed for the saltwater marine environment seems like a REALLY bad idea.

Try one and see for yourself. All cables used are UL E166124 STW 10/3. This construction enables the cord to be used in a salt water environment. Most boats do not come close to using 30 amps. At 10 amps the boat would be consuming 1200 watts. Using a 50 to 30 amp adapter is a necessity due to the electrical power being supplied by the marina. You can only use what the vessel will draw. That is why we have circuit breakers.
The bottom line is High Tide is offering the AOG great pricing. We are a very larger consumer group, so why shouldn't we take advantage of it.

Re: Power cords update

Electric Power cords has a new web site. Go to http://www.ECSPremier.com and register. Just put in AOG in the company name and you will be set-up. I have been told that AOG member will get dealer pricing and no freight. ECS also has other cable products if you take a look at their web site
