Pencil zincs (magnesium) - Cummins

Post by Nancy »

We need a new pencil sacrificial anode for our engine (Cummins 250) - preferably magnesium as we're in freshwater. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Close but apparently no cigar. Looking for 3/8" x 2" (or 2.5" if measuring overall).

Remember, using a hacksaw any anode can be cut down if length is the issue. I used to do this every year for the heat exchanger anode for my Entec generator.

So it does. Thank you, Carl!

And thanks, Kevin, for the workaround. 8)

Don't know anything about a Cummins engine, I have Ford Lehman, but the conversation evolved to anodes.
I just found a company, Marine Anodes, and they are super to deal with.
I first did my homework by checking the 4 major suppliers of Zincs and Marine Anodes was the least expensive, they also have an anode line cutter called a SALCA which for the cost seemed like a good idea.
Here's their site (http://www.marineanodes.com).
I wanted aluminum anodes and when I placed my order I wasn't sure if that's what I ordered. It turned out it wasn't but a quick email to the company, I dealt with Michael, they we able to provide the Aluminum anodes. Ask if you don't see what you need.
So, good price, great customer service and free shipping over $100.
No company interest, just passing on a good contact.
Calm seas,

Charles
