1988 Albin 34 Motor Yacht "Summer Place"

Post by PenBayCruiser »

Looking into this boat that is for sale in Vermont. Is the owner by chance a member?

I'd like to see photos or an old brochure to get a better idea of the layout and hull design.

The boat in question is listed having twin Isuzu 6BD1, (QD) 150 hp engines. Anyone had experience with these?

Any input about the handling (particularly docking, I frequently handle the boats alone) and living aboard one would be helpful.

Thanks!

I don't know what bow thruster was installed in the 1988 A 34s but we had a way undersized one on our 1986 A #$ - had it replaced by New England Bow Thruster back in 2011 a Vetus 7500 and it is superb! Good luck.

Can the broker provide you with more photos?

If the boat is at the same yard as the broker, it's half an hour from me. Let me know if it would help to have a local set of eyes.

Thanks for the input. I have asked the broker for more photos but none yet. No bow thruster listed so may not have one. Will keep in mind your experience with sizing.

They may not have put a bow thruster in a twin engine. We have a single Cummins 210 turbo. Good luck.

We had twin 370's and traveling down the coast and spending every night at a marina, never once did we need a bow thruster. Now a single screw on the other hand.....hmmmm. I wouldn't stop looking at the boat just because it didn't have the bow thruster, but if does have one, consider it a bonus!
It's all about relaxation :)
