Norcold Fridge Parts as Fitted in the 28TE

Post by Tree »

This one may be a long shot - but I am looking for the shelves that fit in this fridge. For whatever reason, ours didn't have the shelves in it when it arrived but then it was a rusty hulk that got cold!

Now I've tarted it all up and made a stainless steel door insert for it, all I need are the shelves for the inside to finish the job off - only problem, Norcold parts are not available in the UK.

If anyone has removed their fridge and has the shelves still hanging about, I would quite happily buy them from you before I start making a new set.

If there is anything out there - please let me know!

Sorry, but I do not have any shelves for you. I once needed the plastic bottle holder attached to the door and ordered it from this RV supply house:

I'm sure parts are available.

Cheers I'll take a look. The only parts I have are the plastic door tray and the ice cube box. It is otherwise ok for keeping calamari frozen for the winters cod fishing!

Can anyone confirm what refrigerator it is? Going through posts it appears to be the Norcold Tek 2 as I don't have the manual for it?

That's what is in my 2000 28TE, here's a shot of the cover page of the owner's guide. I'll sell you the shelves for $80,000 USD and even throw in a real nice complete boat with it!

Bargain - I'll take two!

I've google image searched the Tek 11 and it comes up with something different, like an open top fridge. However, I did email the company Kevin said about but as per usual they can't ship to the UK.

I get the feeling I'll be bending and welding stainless bar to make some nice shiny shelves!

There are 3 different model numbers on that cover page I posted. Googling one of those, I found this parts list. Just not sure which model of the three we have without looking into it further..

There's no ID plate inside the fridge? Most refrigerators (and appliances) have this, including the Norcold on our previous boat.

Edit: Just remembered - so did the DOA Norcold on our Albin, and I even have a photo of it. It was model DC-340D, which doesn't match your numbers at all. The 340 was probably discontinued between 1995 and 2000.

Thats half my problem, I'm not sure if its the Tek 11, the DC340D or now this one - the exploded views all look the same.

I'm down on the boat lunchtime to check on the ropes after last nights gale - i'll see if I can find the ID plate.

The exploded views are not the same. My image of the Owner's Guide above shows the model number stamped in at the bottom, so I have the DC440 and would imagine so does Tree since our hulls are only 19 hulls apart. Nancy's 340 may have been renamed the 440 over time. Here's the 440 Parts List. These parts appear identical to my fridge, the parts shown in the 451 are not. When I scanned the cover page of the owners guide I made sure to include the stamped model number but then when I did the parts search I ignored it....too many work interruptions here at work!

Rob,

this was the exploded view I had from Thetford for the DC340D - the two are very similar and i suspect what you say about it being renamed the 440 is correct.

Gotcha, well good news that the shelf part numbers are the same between the 340 and 440 in case you do have a 340 but how available are those shelves.... Good luck with the search and keep us posted if you locate them or fabricate them.

Just had a look and it is a 440D - had to lay down on the floor to read that!

I can source the shelves from the firm that kevin mentioned but alas due to to territory selling restrictions they cant sell to Europe or Canada which is a pain in the bum!

I'll be using the shelves out of Jodi T then as a template!

Although I highly doubt that it would be worth it, I could assist with purchase and shipping to you if that makes more sense.

many thanks for that Rob, i'd even considered having its shipped to a drop box then fed ex from there but like you say, the shipping will outweigh the cost of the part!

I've got someone on the case from Thetford Europe now
