Carl,

I know there are many characteristics to every prop but to keep it simple you went down one inch in pitch and added a blade, I would not think that would result in such a drastic WOT RPM change since those 2 things counteract one another. What was she hitting at WOT with the 18x18? Larry at Accutech knows all about overloading so I am sure he was careful in his specs..

Hi Rob,

I agree with you. She doesn't feel overloaded in that she spools right up out of the hole with no black smoke or lag. I should have photo tached her last year but it slipped by. I'm going to photo tach her when she's launched and verify tach rpm, etc. and then will work with Larry on it.

How do you measure the RPM's independently? I don't trust the tach on my boat and would love to verify with a separate and accurate means? I have a Peninsular Beast.

Laser Photo Tach. You shoot it at the harmonic balancer. Comes with reflective tape strips, you just put a small chicklet sized square of tape on the balancer. Very easy to use. Just need to wear ear protection!

Here's a link to the one I have had for a few years, very happy with it

And here's a link to a rather pathetic demo video from that same supplier!

That dudes' been staring at the spinning chicklet for way too long!

In all seriousness .. photo taching is an absolute must do.
