Volvo RPM guage

The hour meter on the RPM guage is not working yet the RPMs are ... any thoughts

It's likely that they have a completely separate set of connections and just share a common enclosure. Take a look at the back, get a model number, and we can probably figure it out.

Do you have the digital hour meter?

They do tend to become intermittent when the weather turns cold, at least ours used to and a few others I know of - soon as the weather warmed up, the LCD display started working again. It continues to log the hours anyway.

it is a Volvo tachometer Continental Automotive Switzerland N20070109 VP873683 ... Rpm works but the hour meter does not??

Like I previously said, is the tachometer digital?

If so, the LCD display does become inttermittant - also there is a sensor on the engine that may be at fault.

I can't find the exact part number online, but the number does look very close to several VDO tachs. You could try there for documentation.

ok I will remove the connection and bring the unit inside to warm it up .....BUT it was doing it at times durning the summer also ... do you have any other thoughts ??? any wire I should look for?

Have you removed and reseated the connector? Could have some corrosion going on there.

Ours used to also, especially after everything got past 1000 hours - I just assumed that damp had got into the LCD part of the unit. Some days it would work, others it would flicker, some days nothing!

Come to think of it, ours also would change mode (which I wasn't aware it could) so it gave a digital reading of the RPM

I removed the rpm guage and cleaned al the contacts and brought inside the house. I reinstalled it in about 60 degree weather {Yes that's right ,, here in NC we are still abit warm} and still it does not show the hours .. The rpm works but not the hour led. is there a way I can check to see if it is the guage or something else? I can take a pic of the back if need be thank you

Please do take a picture of the back. Try and make sure any labels or text is in focus.
