Fuel filter funnel
Do you use a fuel filter funnel when fueling your boat? How do you deal with what's left over in the internal sump along with storage of the smelly, messy funnel?

Re: Fuel filter funnel
I don,t use one now. I tried using one several years ago and decided it was not worth the effort....to awkward, can spill on deck if you squeeze the nozzle too fast, etc. When I did use it I never saw anything filtered out so why bother?
Stored it in the rear lazerette, in a small bucket, with an oil diaper or paper towel under to absorb dripage. It didn,t smell or maybe I like diesel too much.

Re: Fuel filter funnel
I have never used a fuel funnel.
I have always used East Marine in Falmouth, Cape Cod, with ValvTect fuel, and never had any problems what-so-ever.
Changed both filters in the spring, and always went through the season just fine.

I hear ya there. One summer day I was working in Manhattan, sitting at a red light with my windows down, the city bus next to me tromped on the throttle, nearly filled my car with black smoke and I thought, mmmmm, can't wait to get back on the boatjleonard wrote: It didn,t smell or maybe I like diesel too much.

Ah, yes the smell of diesel in the morning. Backed up to many oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico at daylight with the engines idleing and the swells churning. Chuummed up a couple of Red Snapper that way.
