Hello from New Member

Post by jhgullett »

Hello,
We just bought a 1985 27' Sport Cruiser which we'll keep in the Bass River
in South Yarmouth MA where we retired (27 degrees currently). Will haul out
for the winter after Thanksgiving.
Looking forward to learning from your knowledge and experience. Have some
experience sailing but this is our first powerboat and first boat owned without
partners.
Have a million questions, but that can wait. I just wanted to say Hello and
will hang out a while.
Have not yet puzzled out how to attach a photo, or set up a profile.
Cheers,
John Gullett

Hi John, welcome to AOG!

Glad I'm not the only NE guy with the boat still in the water! I'm planning one last (short) overnighter before hauling.

Pictures are fairly simple. Attach the file to your post and place it in line. Instructions are at the top of the Photos forum.

TOY-RIFIC and DOGHOUSE are both still in. Domestic water, washdown and baitwell all winterized. Hoping to fish this weekend and then finish the prep for haul out

Didn't dare to visit Sydney, Australia the last 2 weeks, and still have Santosha in the water.
She's snug as a bug in a rug.......all wrapped and winterized.
And with the temperatures lately.......I'm very relieved.

John: Congra's on your first power boat. The 27' is a nice powered way to get around. Welcome to the AOG. Seems like there are a good many 27' Classic out there to give you advise

Thanks to Howard, Rob,Bob and Doug,

With luck the signature will show the boat and an image will upload.
Hauled out today, make a frame this week if the expected rain lets
up and tarp after.

Will be looking the forums to learn if any of my maintenance questions
have been answered already....

I do not know how "swabby" got in there !

The lighter toned brightwork adds an interesting touch.

Binford: Wondering if you will make the Pre Rendevzous meet at the Seattle Boat Show. Hope you can join us. Dave has posted details as to time and place in the Pac. NW Rendevzous section.

Finally realized I am a "swabby" as a new member.

I have some questions regarding maintenance and parts for our 1985 27' SC.

I'm not clear how or where to post them. Since it took me a month to
figure out I'm a swabby, you can imagine how long it will take to learn
how to post questions !

One thing missing on our boat is the dinette table. Any thoughts on where to find
one or drawings for making one (source for fittings ?) ?

Many thanks for guidance on posting and on tables,

Jhgullent: Yours is a fair question. Most of us went through the same experience regarding posting. There are mutiple area's where you may post your questons.
There is 25-27 Classic Secton that will include people with your particular boat. You may also post general questions to General Maintenance and finally General Discussion. Perhaps starting with your Classiic questions will work. You will get responses as well under the General Maintenance section. Just give it a try and see how it works for you. I am thinking the table issuse get good results through your Classic 25-27 Section. Mechanical repairs likely the Maintenance section.
