What is the most interisting thing the PO left on your boat?

Post by eseyoung »

Well, what is it?

The owner of my boat left a ton of stuff some of it useful and some of it not. Actually, 2 owners ago...as the owner before me never cleaned out half of the lockers. I found the normal stuff, 600' of rope, extra anchor, extra impeller, belts, screw and bolt assortment, manuals, ect. I also found a stack of the PO's humm, shall we say entertainment material. 50 or so dvds of it. it was the most organized stuff on the boat. now i am owner of a boat and a very 'homogenous' collection of, humm, entrainment.

Man, all it got is a bunch of safety gear and some outdated charts. I'm buying from the wrong people! :)

I recently had the pleasure in the proper use of a catheter. I must admit, I agree with BidGood in regard to his quote about being "flexible" and "not bending". Nevertheless, the PO left me with a solid brass 8" bell and 4 stainless steel wine cups. No toys though.

My story isn't as "exciting" as the original post, but shortly after I purchased my 1987-27FC I was looking in the aft berth storage areas and came across a snake......it turned out to be a rubber snake, but it shocked the heck out of me as it looked very real! It seems the PO would put the rubber snake on top of the wheelhouse cabin to keep birds away.

If my wife found the snake my guess is that I would have been cleaning up a lot more than bird crap....

Was left with 2 Walker Downriggers with display for reading water temp. and depth of fishing. Seems these are really desirable on the Great Lakes or Georgina Bay, Canada. However, in salt water not as desirable as Cannon or Scotty downriggers. They will not pull up weight exceeding 5 pounds and NW often weights to 15 pounds are used to fish near the bottom. Still they are nice.

This one always rides the bow of Ric Murray's "BIG TIME"

Anyone venture a guess where we were when I took that shot? I know a few AOG members go in that harbor to grab a mooring.

Port Jefferson comes to mind as my first guess. Been there by land but not by sea...

Dering Harbor, Shelter Island. T-R is up front on a Picozzi mooring.

Have not been through everything yet, so far found I found 3 1 pint steel cans of Evinrude 2 cycle oil. Look like they might be from the 60s or 70s. Maby the guys on American Pickers would want them.

Nothing much interesting left by the previous owners on my boats, other than rats' nests of wiring.... Image

But a friend of mine found this on a boat he bought a couple years back:
