First Albin 27FC

Post by turtlemoon »

Just bought my first Albin, very excited to have it, although is will be going right into for the winter.
I'll be sailing in in the Niagara river and lake Erie, wondering if there are any other Albin owners in the area.

Thank you,
Do you ever take your boat to the River?
I used to ride my Harley to Port Dover, I don't think you are that far.

Welcome aboard Lee! Do you know which club or marina she used to sail out of down in Greenwich? I'm pretty sure I've seen her on the water.

Beautiful boat. Enjoy her!

Palmer Point Marina, I bought her through Southpaw Yacht Sales, very smooth transaction. I was going to store it there for the winter, and sail her home via the Hudson River and the Erie barge canal, then they told me how much it would cost to store it. Needless to say, it was a lot cheaper to have her transported by truck. :(
I'm looking forward to splashing her in the spring, as far as I know she will be the only Albin on the Niagara.

Great looking 27'. We had one at the NW Rendezvous this summer. Everyone liked the boat. It was towable and it in really fine shape as yours appears to be. Enjoy.

Well, thank you for the complements, having my new boat on a calander would be a real treat.
I've been going down to the marina just to look at itm simplicity of drsign is what I admire most about her.
I think the harbor master is as excited to have her here as I am.

I just got back from the land of the turtle, Grand Cayman, not Grand Island

Where does the name Turtle Moon come from ?

The previous owner named it, I was going to change it, but it's growing on me.
Love the photos, I have a place in Carolina beach NC, land of the Leatherback Turtles, they hatch around 20 nests per season. Pretty illusive though, I think they only go there to nest.

Hi,

Not sure if this is why your PO named the boat "Turtlemoon" but- Turtles have 13 large scutes (scales) on their carapaces (backs) and native people believed they represented the 13 full moons of the calendar (native calendar) year. The upper left being the first - the flower moon of May (the actual names are a little different depending on where in the country you were from). There is a well known children's book entitled "13 Moons on Turtle's Back". Good luck with her.

Well, thank you, I learned something today :)
I'm really excited to get to know her, I'm getting prices for repainting and spyder crack repair and refinish.
Turtle Moon will be like new when I splash her for the first time next spring
Best,
Lee
