What a great boat...27FC

Post by coolchange »

For a first trip this was terrific. We left Portland to head (on trailer) for Bellingham Wa. and ran into big storm and bad traffic..so much for launching that day...we pulled over and got a hotel, and missed the worst rain in years further north. Up early and on to the launch and a trip across Bellingham bay to Pt. Roberts...there is no reason I can figure why anyone would go here but it gave us a midway point to Vancouver BC.

I thought the "intermittent start " problem was fixed but when we "touched the mud" on Frasier River delta I shut off engine to drift offshore but the engine would not start...till it did..for no apparent reason...so on to Vancouver where we had the same problem at the customs dock...had Vessel Assist tow us to a slip and waited out the Labor Day weekend for someone to come look..There are a lot worse places to be stranded than Granville Island..(Saw a play, improv theatre, a movie and had great food). Problem turns out to be a faulty solinoid...so I built a jumper and whenever the switch failed I could start with no problems.

Some of the high spots: Secret Cove was full so Buccaneer Marina..with free prawns, Egmont (BackEddy Marina), Princess Louisa Inlet, Lund, Desolation Sound, Pender Harbor, Straight of Georgia( sloppy and fog), Ganges, Thetis, Friday Harbor and all points in between.

The boat ran great, was very comfortable..rain or shine, hot or cold. and handles extremely well in all sorts of water. I'm an Albin Fan!

You should be able to pick up that solenoid at most auto parts stores. I've had to replace both of mine.
