Pop Up Videos

Post by seasalt »

Am I the only one getting pop up videos advertisements while in the AOG Forum?

It might be just me since I have been fighing Firefox for two days and finally got a clean version installed today. I went with v24 and there may be some settings that need adjusted.

I get a video each time I visit. I "X" out of it but it still comes back.

I thought it might be Firefox but I do this in IE. It may be a setting. I have had all kinds of computer problems in the last two days due to a bad Firefox update.

In Firefox - click on Tools - Options - Content, then check the box to block pop-up windows....

I am in here on IE and have the pop up filter on high but they are still coming when I first log in. Is there a total blocker for IE?

Try the following to get on to the AOG site. Instead of using http://www.albinowners.net - use

"index.php"

Don't forget to remove the quotes (They were placed there as the AOG editor presented the visual link in a shorten form. Quotes are there for clarity...)

Don't know about a total blocker for IE...

Have fun,
Joe

I am on a different computer for this. My main computer has a virus called Top Arcade Hits that is causing the problem. It is a combination of adware, spyware and virus according to Google. I am trying to find it with a malware scanner.

And, as far as I can tell there is no total popup blocker for IE.

Top Arcade Hits was very hard to delete. It is a bad virus. I got finally got rid of it by doing a 2 hour scan by http://www.malwarebytes.org. It is a free download.

If you Google Top Arcade Hits you will find out how bad it is and read how it is suspected to enter a computer via downloads.com.

The malwarebytes scan found amost 100 malware objects, one of which was top archade hits. To delete them you must check the box for each object and then hit "delete selected".

For some reason the infection only overtly manifested itself in IE while I was in this AOG forum. I suspect that it was also in my Firefox browser as well because a few days ago it suddenly refused to open saying that it had stopped working and Windows was working on it. After several uninstalls and downloads I have it back.
