I'm backtracking on my loop for a week or so just to enjoy the Gulf side. I'll be heading from Ft Myers up to Venice and then Clearwater or St Petersburg. We'll be spending a couple nights at each stop then flying out of Tampa.
We'll be staying at marinas each night. Looking for suggestions..........

Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda is a popular stop for those who don't mind detouring up to the top of Charlotte Harbor.

The municipal marina in Fort Myers is good, very helpful and walking distance to the downtown, the Edison Museum ect.

Punta Gorda is a great place to spend a day or just a night, you're right in town with plenty of eating, shopping and entertainment all within walking distance. WM is even a short bike ride or walkable.
