Live bait tank lid

Post by Tree »

Does anyone know where I could get one from? Mine has been used as a cutting board and has knife marks in it - both of the stern fish hold lids are the same but there are two replacements on the boat I can change over - alternatively I suppose I could use one of the other lids and flip it over, it just wont have the sand grip on it.

I am looking for one in the sand/beige/off white colour should anyone have one kicking about?

Tree, i'm not familiar with the lid on a 28. I bet it is made of starboard. I just had to match the beige Starboard on my boat and it is called Fish White, the darker of the two samples in the picture. Boatoutfitters . com was really helpfull and easy to deal with.

They probably have a cut off from my project. I have a Starboard sample set I can dig up if this isn't the right color.

This is a great topic. The PO of my put similar marks on one of the two fish box covers and I would love to get them out.

It is starboard but it's got a texture on the top side. I tried a light sanding to no avail. However, I was careful because I didn't want a noticeable smooth area.

If anybody has the answer to this question it would be great info.

Same thing on the starboard lid over our butane stove. A really good scrubbing with Ajax - or maybe it was Softscrub - got the grime out of the grooves and made the thing much more acceptable. Maybe if your lid were as clean as possible, you could live with it for a little while.

Just an FYI, King Starboard makes an "AS", anti-skid, product. It's more of the traditional diamond pattern but if you're having a new hatch or hatches made you may want to consider it.

I looked to see if there was a way to texturize traditional starboard material but couldn't find anything.

Doug, I did consider using the diamond tread stick on patches - i'll try giving it a good clean with bleach based cleaner and see what happens there first.

Halcyon,

I've just found this on their site:

Looks like bleach is the way forward!

The spray foam Clorox product hasn't done the trick for me with the knife marks. It is good for other applications on the boat because it doesn't tend to run or drip.

I've found that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser does a very good job on StarBoard. I don't know how it will do for deep scratches, but it's worth a try.
