WATER PUMP FOR AIR CONDITIONER
No flow, strainer cleaned, in the process of removing original water pump, a silver drum. What pumps are being used in the 21st century?

March pumps seem to be the way to go. I have one also and it is super quiet.

I have the same and agree 100%. The silver drum is likely the Cal Pump.sweetwater wrote:March pumps seem to be the way to go. I have one also and it is super quiet.

Re: WATER PUMP FOR AIR CONDITIONER
Make sure that the new pump is sized properly - ie. the flow rate. Switched to a March pump for my system...
Don't forget that you may have to prime the pump to get the flow working correctly...
Have fun,

Re: WATER PUMP FOR AIR CONDITIONER
Was the old pump running, just with no flow? As N4QC notes you may have lost prime.halfmoon wrote:No flow, strainer cleaned, in the process of removing original water pump, a silver drum. What pumps are being used in the 21st century?

Re: WATER PUMP FOR AIR CONDITIONER
Finally got to pump, Cal Marine 50580, 580 gpm. They look good, but my experience with them on a previous boat was not good. What March model is needed, 140-3? I do need to check for loss of prime, but I think pump is below waterline.

Re: WATER PUMP FOR AIR CONDITIONER
The first time we went to use the air conditioner on our boat, we thought the pump wasn't working. Turned out it needed to be primed even though it's below the water line - a pita, but not too bad once you know. And the pump is so quiet that you practically have to put your ear next to it to hear it run.

Re: WATER PUMP FOR AIR CONDITIONER
Two important items to address with an air conditioning pump. The pump suction should be below the water line. Secondly the discharge cannot have any dips in it, you need a straight shot to the air conditioner.
