Is there a circuit breaker for the thruster and if so where is it located?
I looked at an Albin that has cables leaving the battery switch and disappearing form the battery compartment unprotected. Where is the circuit protection close to the batteries? A 1994 model.

Re: Thruster circuit protection
I have a 2001 model with a Vetus Bowthruster. The 250 amp fuse is immediately above the battery selector switch. Not sure about an older model.

My 2000 is located there as well. It's a CNL series fuse holder with a plastic cover but I believe mine is a 300amp.awilkins wrote:I have a 2001 model with a Vetus Bowthruster. The 250 amp fuse is immediately above the battery selector switch. Not sure about an older model.

Re: Thruster circuit protection
If I recall correctly our 1997 had the fuse on the back side of the bulkhead from the switches. The switches were under the step in the cabin and the fuse was on the bulkhead under the helm.

Thanks, next time I'll look in the engine compartment. On this boat 2/0 cable comes off the common terminal of the switch, no others on that terminal. It is connected to the 2/0 cable which heads aft along with 2 #6 and a #4 cable using a short 3/8" bolt and nut. This "terminal" is taped for insulation. Those smaller wires head aft as well, all with no circuit protection. I'm new to these boats and just wanted to hear what others have.
TQ

Are we to assume that congratulations are in order? Did I miss a post about a purchase??

Re: Thruster circuit protection
Doug, I wish...
I was hired to install a windlass on an Albin and had never actually seen a wiring diagram or one opened up for inspection. It's no big deal, just takes time to sort out what's going where.
I'm still looking though and after going back and forth on what we want we decided flush deck wasn't mandatory so that should make it easier to find the right one.
I've worked on a lot of boats and the TE 28 I'm working on now is rock solid.
