TE 31 ROD HOLDERS
I need more rod holders in the back of the boat for a nice tuna spread, so, has any one installed flush mounted rod holders in the top of the two fish locker doors or have other suggestions? I know some one has figured this out with the cleanest install, thanks Jim!

I installed three in the transom. One is in the middle forward of the flag holder. One is in the spacing between the bait well and the transom box. The third is in the back, port corner. None of these locations have created any difficulties with the use of any of the lids. Happy to send photos if this is confusing.

Here are some photos showing the placement of the rod holders. I will add some more that show the rod holders from underneath. I also used 45 degree rod holders to get past the swim step. Necessary for salmon trolling but not for tuna.

The rod holders installed by Albin in my 28 TE were supplied by Prime Industries in VA. The price as of last winter had gone up to $22 each!

For Albacore fish 7 rods and 2 hand lines using diving boards. Have two rods on both the starboard and port side gunnels, ( the fore rod goes to the outrigger and the aft rod on that side fishes short), and off the stern fish 3 rods, one off each corner and the a middle rod with a rod holder attached to the fore side of the fish box. Then off each stern cleat run a hand line with 30ft of tuna cord to a diving board. The line off the middle of the stern fishes long usually with a swim bait. Gives us 9 lines for the troll and we have a minimum of tangles. If you need to convert a troll to a live bait or iron stop need to clear the 2 hand lines and and usually the aft line on each side. The other 5 are out of the way and can be cleared over time.
