Bummer on the windlass, but you didn't miss much in the way of scenery today with all the smoke from Canada. Send me an email if you get into Malletts Bay. Better yet, I'll email you with my phone numbers.

We are currently tied on the lock wall in Chambly on the Chambly canal. Great town festival today, awesome Cuban party band.
Make a great trade today..a group of youg folks were setting up on the picnic table next to our boat for a barbeque. It statred to rain. So I offered them the use of my Heineken patio umbrella for a "fee" of 2 beers (because we are out). They loved that deal. Then we lent them 2 chairs also. Later they gave us 2 more beers. Nice folks.

To,orrow we have to visit the bank to get some local tender, plus hit the grocery storre then we're off again

Well we made it into the Rideau Canal system finally. Spent 4 nights in Ottawa after spending 5 hours waiting and locking up into the city. Ottawa is a really nice city with lots to do. Only bummer is that people climb aboard the boats at night, maybe to steal, maybe not, but the Ottawa police don't really care neither do the security staff that patrols the tie up area.
We had an intruder at 3:15 am, the city police didn't really care to hear our complaint They think it's a game. 3 other boats also got boarded that night.
So if you go to Ottawa by boat..beware.
Currently lying at the lock wall at Burritts Rapids waiting the day out...to windy and cold today.

Joshua Slocumb sprinkled tacks on his decks to keep unwanted visitors away!

So what's the point of the marina "security"? To make sure the trespassers have a good time?

Must be. LOL
They also have signs saying the area is under video surveilance... Yea right.
I didn't have any tacks, but I did have my raw water washdown ready at the door the next night.

Currently in Merrickville, On in the Rideau. Nice little town, several pubs, shops, grocery store and an LCBO (that's Canadian for "liquor store"). Plus "borrowing" some wifi...life is good.
I think we'll just have to spend another day here before we continue our journey.
Gotta go...time to re-beer.
