Southport is the 4th of July Festival Capital for NC. We've got a 3 day street festival, parade, and some awesome fireworks from a barge about 500 yards directly in front of our cottage. Did I mention that we're expecting 60,000+ people into our little 2200 resident fishing village today? It's wild, but we love our 4th here. Us locals provision up, honker down, sit back and watch the tourists. It's expected to be worse this year down here on the waterfront as Safe Haven was filmed about 3 doors down from us and the "movie groupies" are here in droves. Actually had a group stop me in my front yard the other day asking what happen to the general store that was the main set...I told them it burnt down in the movie and they replied "but they were building it back at the end"....to which I politely replied "it was only a movie", all the time LMBFAO! Anyway, I digress from the point of posting here....

TO ALL - May your hot dogs be plentiful, your beer ice-cold, your fireworks spectacular.... but save a moment to think of all our troops away from family and friends and say THANK YOU!!!

Happy 4th to everyone. A very typical Maryland HOT weekend. But, a good one!
