Hi -
Looking for new projects (like the boat doesn't give me enough).
How / or what have people done to ease the oil change work? I have been thinking of installing a Reverso (or some similar pump) to make it easier, just not sure where the best mounting would be to get to the plugs...
What have others done - or are you still satsfied with the suction pmup method.
Also - I have seen listings of the amount of oil for the FL120 - at or about 12 qrts - I think that is close - as it brings it to my "scratch mark" on the dip stick.
Just looking for others solutions - or plans!!

Mine came with a hose attached to the drain plug hole. I use a oil x changer pump. Takes maybe 2 minutes orr less to suck all the oil even if it,s cold.
12 qts however, once it uses oil to the "min" mark it stays there a long time.
So i say put in 11 or 11.5 qts

Jleonard - yes - X-change-R is one of the systems on of my buddies uses and says it works great - so great he upgraded to a 3-port? and hooked it to his generator, engine and transmission.

My genny can gravity drain, and the tranny I use a squeezeball rig from an outboard engine fuel hose.

My boat came with a thing called a "Ross Marine Oil Changer," which, scary as it seems, is simple and works very well. Only moving part is the heavy brass valve. It uses the engine's oil pump to almost empty the engine, (it has a safety valve to maintain oil pressure) then I use a standard auto parts store oil pan to get the last quart or so.
All it takes is couple of two liter soda bottles, idle the engine, put the little hose in the bottle and open the valve.
A Google search failed to turn it up, just turns up various oil changing chains, but I didn't spend a lot of time on it. The thing scares me, but there's no denying it's clean and easy to use.

I use aReverso system with a three valve manifold. I do both the main and Gen with the system and it is a breeze. I turn on the A/C and change the oil without getting dirty or breaking a sweat. If your filter on the main is facing down just punch a small hope in the top and it will drain with the rest of the oil leaving no mess when you take it off.
