2003 Yanmar -valve stem concerns?

About to finalize the purchase of a 2004 Albin 28TE. The serial number on the 6LPA-STP is M52519. The build sheet from Yanmar was dated 6/17/03. Is this engine clear of the valve issues?

"The Class consists of all persons or entities who as of March 15, 2007, are current or former owners of Yanmar 6LP or 6LPA series engines manufactured by Yanmar between September 1996 and February 1, 2002, specifically including those which a) have a model designation of 6LP-STE, 6LP-STZE, 6LPA-STE, 6LPA-STZE, 6LPA-STP or 6LPA-STZP and b) bear a serial number in the range of 50101-53988 or M50001-51195"...

Your 6/17/03, M52519 engine should be clear of the recalled valve issues...

Confirmation can be obtained by contacting Mack-Boring, the Yanmar distributor, in New Jersey...

I too am searching for an Albin. I called Mack Boring a while back and they provided the 50001-51195 range. What is the second set of numbers you refer to?

I believe its either of those serial number ranges. My serial number starts with an "M," so for the M range, I'm good. If the block you are looking at is all numbers, refer to the first serial # range.

Don't know the difference in the serial number ranges. Suspect that the M range is an engine configured in the US while the other range is for imported engines. Perhaps Rob (Paddy) might have some insight as to location of manufacture/configuration of his engine...
