Is there more than one version of the flush deck that followed the engine box style?
I saw an Albin that appeared to have a raised section forward of where the engine box used to be, maybe just a few inches.
Was the design where the entire deck is at one level an improvement over this stepped-flush deck? Why the two flush deck styles?
I like the flush deck style but am curious about why there are two versions.

Re: Flush deck versions?
Yes the early flush deck had a step up. What's nice was that the cockpit floor was not raised so you did not loose the 4" in gunnel height. That was circa 2003

Re: Flush deck versions?
I have an '04 with the raised cockpit. My biggest gripe is how the deck hatches don't drain properly. The deck is almost parallel with the waterline. Everytime I raise the hatch where the engine box used to be I get a shower of water below deck. I ended up sewing a removable sunbrella panel to cover all the hatches on the deck.
