Engine Kill Button

Post by captnron55 »

We have a 1987 Sundeck with twin Ford Lehman 135's. When I go to shut down the port engine, I have to hold the kill button for a good 10 to 15 seconds before the engine shuts down. It doesn't matter which helm station I'm at. Thoughts?

Ist check your wiring connections to the switch and the solenoid on the engine. Make sure the solenoid shaft is clean and making full travel. There may be a bracket that is adjustable for the solenoid position and it may have slipped and the solenoid is no longer shutting the fuel off comppletely, hence the long delay before it shuts down.
