As mentioned in other posts, we found our Albin 25 stored in a barn in central Illinois. I'll be posting photos of the restoration but here is a shot as we hauled the boat out of the barn - starting our trip to Eastern Washington & it's eventual restoration.
We have found a few things that we are curious about - there are 9 pieces of cotton string about 2 1/2 feet long with brass clips that were tucked into a storage locker. Does anyone know if these are used for some purpose in the boat - possibly in the sail rigging?

Re: 71 Albin 25 restoration
I'm going to guess that the mystery clips are for furling the sail and securing it to the boom.
Best of luck with the restoration!!

Re: 71 Albin 25 restoration
The best sail ties for furling are flat ribbon, either tied in a reef know or fastened with Velcro. Lengths of line should be soft braid of a slightly larger dia than your strings.
Are your strings/hooks the right lengths for suspending curtains over the port lights?

Re: 71 Albin 25 restoration
Called the previous owner & found that the mystery strings with brass "loops" were closure ties for laundry bags - they allow quick formation of a loop & pulling the loop tight. He used them to lash the canvas top to the aft wheelhouse roof.
Finished disconnecting the hoses, wiring, etc. to the Albin AD-21 engine. Those Swedes were pretty sharp engineers - the raw water pump is actually two pumps with separate impellers on the same shaft. The there is a weep hole between the raw water pump and the second pump which normally runs dry since it is a bilge pump (although there is a way to plumb it add a heat exchanger and use the second pump as a cooling water recirculation pump.
Anyway, the bilge pump takes suction through a hose, globe valve & strainer that sits in the bilge. The first photo shows the various hoses exiting the aft portion of the engine box - large hose to port is the exhaust and the small hose with red handled valve to starboard is the bilge suction line. The second photo shows the removed bilge suction line and the other two show the valve handle and the suction strainer that sat in the bilge. Amazing that after 42 years the globe valve turns easily and the suction strainer is not corroded out. Note the label on the valve handle indicates Sweden (portion is missing but clear enough).
