Re: Albin 28 tonnage
I wouldn't rely on documentation paperwork. I don't have an Albin (sorry), but my USCG documentation says 26 tons and it's really 26,000 pounds. I have written to them twice to correct it to no avail.

Re: Albin 28 tonnage
USCG tonnage on a Cert. of Documentation has nothing to do with weight, but with volume.
My 28 TE : 10 GRT, 8 NRT
For power boats, take the distance between the transom and bow not inclusive of swim platforms and bow pulpits / 28.3 on the 28 TE. Multiply that by the maximum beam not inclusive of the rub rail. / 9.8 on the 28 TE. Multiply that by the distance from the sheer line to the bottom of the hull not including the keel / 5.7 on the 28 TE. Add the volume of the deck house/cabin top / attached link will help you with that calculation / Good Luck! Multiply by .67. Divide by 100. This will give you the "Gross Tonnage". Net tonnage is 80% of GRT.
Most boat manufacturers have tonnage calculated and available for documentation purposes.
If you're so inclined, enjoy the following link for a good mind twist on calculating Gross Tonnage.

To amend tonnage on a Cert. of Documentation my understanding is that the USCG tonnage worksheet must submitted.
