Filled the beast up yesterday and took on 69 gallons. I paid the same price as last October, $4.26 a gallon, I have been using the new prop since I splashed. My average GPH was 3.93 gph. So far most of my cruising has been at 3050-3100 and that is moving Serenity at 19-19.5 knots. Still WOT is 3770-3800 in all conditions. With wind, against the wind, incoming and outgoing tide.

Are you seriously saying that your Albin 28 gets about 5 nautical miles per gallon. I have an albin 32 and only get 1.6 on average. If this is true I may have to consider a 28.

John, less that 5 gallons per hour. If I could get 5 miles per gallon, I would own Hess. In fact I have the prop out for one more tweak.

I took Serenity out today., wind out of the NW, 10-15 knts, incoming tide, the Bay was flat, one soul on board, full water, full fuel and the yacht was ready to run. The prop had its final adjustments in the fall. I attained the following:
2400 rpms 15.7 knots
3000 rpms 22.3 knots
3300 rpms 25.0 knots
3800 rpms 29.8 knots (flat out)
Prop is tuned correctly
Boat ran great oil pressure and water temp, right in line. Time to go Fluke and Bass fishing.

Knots were measured by my A50D Ray marine GPS. I also had a gray painted prop to reduce drag. I will take Serenity out again this week and confirm the numbers but I was surprised as well.

It would appear that "tweaking" a four bladed 19x19 would be futile in attempting to achieve your performance.

Took the beast out today. Tide was going out, 10-15 knot wind out of the SW, 1-2 foot chop on the bay and air temp 55.

The last half an hour I cruised back to the marina at 3100 and my speed was 22.3 No overheating, no black smoke and no strange noises. For you guys on the Bay, Fire Island Inlet looks like a wreck.

Wow, that sounds incredible! I can't come anywhere near those speeds.
I believe our 2003 Albin TE with Yanmar 6LP and transmission has a 2:1 gear reduction.
Serenity, does yours have the same? Or is your gear reduction different?

If we can establish that, and we know your pitch is 15.25" we can easily use a prop calculator to determine the top speed.
