Kevin: Looks like a great show and place to buy. Would fun to check out were I not across the country. Enjoy all of you close enough to make it.

Howard - Too far a trip for me at approx. 300 miles round trip. I've never been to the physical store, but have purchased a ton of my boat stuff through them online over the years including my Revere liferaft and Xantrex inverter saving big dollars over any other store on the high ticket items. I put a cart together on their site over the winter and update the pricing on Warehouse Sale Weekend and proceed to checkout. For the most part, even their everyday prices crush Worst Marine. Here's an example of part of my annual buy vs. West for maintenance: racor 900 filter 11.69 vs. 17.00, head odor filter 71.69 vs. 110.00. Here's a great deal on a Lewmar Pro Fish 700 FF windlass 780.00 vs 1,020, On my life raft I had saved over $600.00 to the next lowest competitor. They're not the be all, but come pretty darn close.

Enjoy your visit J. 8)

Howard and others - just go on line at Defender.com and enjoy the sale long distance. The savings will more than pay for your shipping. I know 'cause I bought my new hot water heater that way.

Always wanted to visit the store in person. I live on Long Island just across the Sound and Defender is only an hour and a half ferry ride from my house. Alas, I'm on call this weekend and have to stay local to home.

I can't believe I just used the word "alas".

I plan on making the trip cross-Sound soon. I put together a package deal with the family: I'll take them to the Mystic Aquarium and dinner if they'll let me visit the Defender store - and to promise no complaining that Daddy's boat part shopping again!

Sounds like a "win-win" for me!

I placed an order yesterday for everything we can think of for our holding tank project. Saved $1/foot on that pricey Trident 102 sanitation hose. :)
