Propeller shaft alignment
Hi all: I want check the shaft alignment on my 28TE 1994 it has the Peninsular 300 hp and the Hurth HSW 630v V-drive Trans. I have completed this work on my sail boats in the past they where a strait through shot. In this case its so not much fun !! I wonder if you have tricks to get this checked out. I at our lounching last week, first time in the water for us, I was checking lots of items had repacked the the shaft packing ( Fun job ) I saw the shaft had some movement up and down at the packing gland. For peace of mind I think need to check the alignment. The engine was overhauled 50 hrs back before I purched her. So have you adjusted the Alignment and how did it go?. Bella is on a trailer next to my house not in the water. Thanks Steve

It has been awhile since I've done one. Did my Albin 27 many years ago after doing an engine removal for painting. Best done in the water. Time consuming. You just have to get 'your head around it' & get busy with the feeler guage at the coupling & 1/2 & 1/4 turns at the engine bearers to get it right.
