Buying an Albin 28
I am a new member and in the market for a Albin 28 TE year 200-2006 with Yanmar or Cummins. I am interested to learn all I can about this model boat and associated challenges. I live out west in Sausalito near San Francisco. I would like to find a west coast boat but would consider shipping one out if I find the right boat. Please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions.

Frank13,
Of course, there's been a ton of information shared on this fantastic site that could be broken down any way you want, such as engines, transmissions, electrical systems, electronics, ammenities, storage, etc. Pick a subject and search...you will be informed. I personally wouldn't limit myself to 2000-2006. We found a 1999 in fantastic condition w/all maintenance records and a one owner boat. Of course, the price was much better than a 2002+. We like the engine box, but you may want the flush deck....lots of reading on that particular subject. Since we wanted to cruise and put a full enclosure on, we chose the Yanmar because it is a lot quieter than the Cummins. Both are very good engines, so again, it has to do with your needs and wants. I spent several months on this site, wrote a number of inquiries, and did a lot of research BEFORE we narrowed things down. Our 1st test ride was a real eye opener regarding engine noise levels. Take your time, it's a big investment, but one worth making.
Good Luck!!

Hello Frank!
First off, welcome to AOG! This site has an abundance of information to read through. I just recently purchased a 2001 a few months ago and this website helped out tremendously.
I know Pitou has his Albin for sale (I think) on here, its a28 TE and from what I can see it looks immaculate. If I hadn’t already purchased my Albin already, I would have made a move on this one. Just something to take a look at and to give you an idea Good luck with your search!
Here is the link to his boat... viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5943
