Re: Sampson post
I'm about to, I'll let you know it goes. I think Boatmon reinforced his with aluminum stock and it can be found here: http://albinrestoration.blogspot.com/. I think mine is soft near the bottom and I have to fabricate a new one. I'm currently looking at laminating some teak together to get the dimension I need. Anyone have a better idea?
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Sampson post
Thanks for the response. I have just removed the old sampson post, after removing the forward v-birth paneling and shelves. Mine was rotten mid-way but could not tell how bad it was until I removed all the interior. So now I am replacing it with oak that I have laminated from some
large oak timbers. Plans are now to epoxy it and install it using fiberglass again. Since I am installling a deck hatch above the anchor locker, it will be easier to have the room to do the fiberglass work.
I'm in the process of a 3 year restoration on my 36, its presently on the hard in front of my work shop at my house, very convient. If you or anyone else has any questions about anything I have experienced (decks, windows, swimdeck enlargement or misc.) your welcome to e-mail me.

Re: Sampson post
Hi Terry,
Good Question, their screwed in both foward and aft and then shelf material is cut to contour with hull and glued to hull. With such a design I don't think raising the shelves would be possible without making them longer, as the hull gets longer as it gets taller. Possible but cosmetically difficult.

Re: Sampson post
Hi Terry, I found 2 screws into the V berth bulkhead and 2 screws into the anchor locker bulkhead for each shelf hidden under teak plugs. Good luck.
