STORAGE CRADLE

Post by Bill R »

When I last posted this request, I was probably too specific by asking about a folding, steel cradle. What I need are the dimensions for any 4 or 6 pad storage cradle for a 28 TE. Neither Standish nor C&C can help. They both use trailers to move their boats and stands or blocks for storage. Does anyone use a cradle they can measure for me?

Dear Bill R:
We had a custom, heavy duty cradle made for the Carol Marie 10 years ago. I'll go out to the marina on Weds. And take some pictures and attempt to photoshop them with dimensions and send them to you via email.

Much appreciated Don but no need to rush. The boat is in storage in Toronto and we can't do anything until the spring. My request doesn't require a special trip in the cold on your part. When you are prepping your own boat for launch, will give me plenty of time to have one made. Thanks, Bill

Bill: Attached are a number of photos of the Carol Marie cradle. I'm sending several so that you will be able to see construction details. The supports are essentially symmetrical.

- Overall width is 8 feet
- Overall length is 15 feet
- Base frame fabricated from 2"x6" steel "C" beams
- Support columns are 2.5" square and are approximately 4 feet long from the bottom of the frame to the support pads. Also note the angular adjustment pads just above the Carol Marie name in the front of the cradle. All other supports are vertical and fixed
- The keel supports are approximately 31" to the "V" support blocks

Also note the 6"x6" support blocks, which were added to facilitate the forklift. When the boat is set for storage, additional wooden blocks are placed under the support blocks as necessary in order to accommodate the terrain and assure that the boat is slanted toward the stern for drainage.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Regards, Don
