Has anyone installed a wheel type autopilot on a 36 ft Albin ? We had one on our 41 ft gulfstar sailboat and it worked well, it was similar to this one

We were thinking of mounting it on the upper steering station as there is a little more room to mount it to the wheel
Does anyone know of a reason why it wouldn't work ?
Thanks
Norm

Re: wheel autopilot
You most likely have hydraulic steering (Hynautic). If that's the case a wheeled pilot won't work well.
For that kind of $$ you can get the Sitex SP-70 hydraulic unit. I have that one and it works perfectly.

I also installed the SP-70 last summer. Plug and play (almost).

Re: wheel autopilot
I sent my old Benmar Course Setter 21 in for a rebuild and am ready for another 30 years of service. I really like the simplicity of it, and it does a great job.
