Bob, very sorry to hear that the boat is a total loss, but the bright side is that you'll be paid in full. Seems like a very tough situation going forward with all the marina damage. Luckily, you have some time to decide what you want to do for next year.

How sad to lose your boat. A total loss is probably better in the long run than a boat that will never be the same again.

People down here are collecting clothes etc. to send to the stricken areas of NY. Is that what is needed? If not, what can people in other areas do to help? We have been hit by numerous hurricanes here and helping people clean up debris and have enough staples while living in temporary places is what we have always done, but this area is rather rural and is nowhere near as populated as NY, so the situation is probably totally different.

I dont think that they will acccept used clothing at this time. What they are looking for are staple foods and things like cleaning supplies, Baby stuff food diapers. There are people coming in to help, giving hot meals to those who need and offer labor to clean and whatnot so there are still good people out thank God. My problem pales in comparison to others. But i,me sure that after time everything will work out for all. Thank everybody on this board for their support. I will keep in touch. Thanks Bob

I have been working Sandy claims non stop, 7 days a wk, 12-15hr days. My company has received ~700 claims thus far and we have cut off most of the carriers as it is just too much. I have worked the hardest hit areas, Breezy Pt, Rockaways, Long Beach, etc. The storm surge flooding is much worse than the wind, businesses and homes with +/- 4ft of standing water throughout. Places that have never even been touched with an inch of flooding during prior storms.

Very tough, physically and emotionally.

A BIG shortage is housing, countless numbers of many homeless families and winter is almost here.

We tried. Sharon packed up a lot of women's clothing and took it to two different places. Each place was polite but refused the donation unless it was dry cleaned in plastic.
We did donate a couple hundred to the Red Cross. In our names and Albin Owners Group.

If we, as a group, can do something for you, your family, or any other AOG member directly, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey Rob Got your PM thanks so much for your offer. It appears I will have no issues with the ins. co. I met with Salvor today and they will get the boat out tomorrow. Saw it at low tide today. My wife was real upset. I will post a pic when she,s on blocks. Thanks Bob

I got to see the Chris Jay last Saturday. Thankfully only relatively minor damage after floating of her blocks. there was another Albin 28 named El Tigre which didn't fair well. Stoved in and sunk. The owner never got on this site for whatever reason. That's two less Albins in the area.

Bob,Val and I have a first hand understanding how you must have felt,as we lost our Amberjack to a marina fire in July 2011.Now there is a up side to this.We brought home our Albin 31TE that December.All the best on your next Albin.Bob&Val

Bob - I write this with a heavy heart and wish you and all that are suffering from the affects of Sandy my best. The pictures of your boat are saddening as only a short time ago you shared a great moment back on the dock holding your tuna catch. Hold on to the memories. This is a reminder of all I have to be thankful for.
