New Member - Looking at Albin 28

Post by Halkman26 »

Hello all,

Stumbled across this forum when researching Albins. I currently own a 23 Maycraft Pilothouse and am looking to upgrade to an Albin 28. Have a deal in place on a beautiful 2002 Albin 28 with a Cummins 370, new tranny, new generator, heat/ac, Alaska bulkhead package and older, but complete electronics (radar, gps, depth, auto pilot, etc). Trying my darnedest to sell my boat first.

The Albin I'm looking at has just over 1000 hours. I have always owned outboards.....would appreciate any thoughts on this package and what I would be looking at maintenance wise each year. Per current owner, boat will cruise at about 20 knots burning 12 gallons per hour.

John,
Welcome to Albin Owners Group.
Oil change, clean fuel, check the injectors. That's about it. Keep an eye on transmission fluid. 1000 hours is just getting broken in. i'm sure others will jump in here and offer advice about what to look for around 1000 hours. Cruising at 20 knots is pretty good. My cruise is 17-18.

Thanks John - is yours equipped with the Yanmar 315 or a Cummins 370 like I am looking at?

Any luck with that purchase? I have a couple others if not. I am a former Albin dealer and now a broker in Florida. Be glad to help. Dougj

Deal fell through as Halkman just wasn't ready to cruise at 18 knots. He ended up pulling back and buying an Everglades 295 with twin 225 Honda's  . Someday he'll be ready t enjoy the ride!

Everglades a good boat, but totally different. Maybe his kidneys will have a say in the matter latter on!
