Our new FC 30 top

Post by kathylsails »

Thanks to all of you who provided much needed input and pictures when we were considering a hardtop for KP Duty, our 30 FC. We really liked the top on SeaJ, an Albin 28, and the pictures John sent us of a 30 FC in Australia. We used Down East Canvas, who did SeaJ's top, and could not be happier! The fabric is Stamoid, so the whole rig is very light. It's set up so we could add side panels and have an enclosure like John's boat in the future. Now all we need to do is haul KP Duty and do some hull polishing!

I think it looks great. I notice your roof is flatter than mine and it appears to be connected to the top of the pilot house rather than under the overhang as mine is. I think that your connection is better because my top is more curved and my canvas guy couldn'seem to get the wrinkles out where the sides of the curved top join the pilot house. On mine, rain water accumulates in those wrinkles and when I step on board it dumps on my head!
BTW, katie G is now in the winter storage compound waiting for winter which is not far away.

Good job - you won't know yourself with a top over the aftcab and even better when you close it all in.
I think you should be careful taking notice of what that bloke in Australia does with his boat!!! (Don't worry - that's me!)
Sending John details of the way i fixed the bottom of the side curtains. Will post it on AOG forum.
