Ceiling or Headliner replacement

Post by mkh8911 »

Once I get the leaks stopped on my 1978 36' Classic Trawler (okay maybe just slowed a bit) I need to replace the ceiling material especially over the starboard side windows. It has been wet too many times and looks terrible. Does anyone have a source for the material Albin used? Would you advise substituting a soft headliner material or go back with the original? What have you guys done about this?
Thanks,
Kevin

Perhaps by now you've made your decision regarding this. . . just in case you haven't: we had a fire aboard our 1986 Albin 43 Classic in 2002. Lots of oily smoke damage required new ceiling material, which our insurance company paid for. It's pretty much the same stuff that is used in cars, soft and sort of a "leatherette" look. I believe it was installed by someone who usually does it in cars. Eleven years later it still looks new.

Thanks for the info. I have not replaced my headliner yet. It's been too cold to get much done here in Tennessee. I appreciate you taking the time to post,
Thanks
