TS Leslie

Post by jcollins »

Discussion and 48-hour outlook ------------------------------ at 800 am AST...1200 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Leslie was located near latitude 31.4 north...longitude 62.5 west. Leslie is moving toward the north near 9 mph...15 km/h. A northward motion with some increase in forward speed is expected today...followed by a gradual turn toward the north-northeast tonight or on Monday. On the forecast track...the center of Leslie should pass east of Bermuda later today.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph...95 km/h...with higher
gusts. Some strengthening is possible during the next 48 hours...
and Leslie could regain hurricane status during the next day or so.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 195 miles...315 km
from the center. A wind gust to 48 mph...77 km/h...was recently
reported at an automated weather observing station on St. Davids
Island Bermuda.

For realtime conditions at 3 sites click here http://199.172.239.3/gemamet/index.jsp click logon then BDA AWOS top left then composite.

Nothing much happening. About the same as a winter storm but people have gone hurricane crazy this past week. Things were looking like they were going to be pretty bad up till Thursday morniing when projected track & strength changed.

Nice site. 50 mph winds can be quite sporty.
