Could someone please post a photo showing the transmission cooler hose routing for the FL120. I'm particularly interested in the vented loop arrangement and pickup fitting location leading to the stuffing box. The Lehman Operators manual shows the tranny cooler installation under the heat exchanger assembly but falls short of vessel integration arrangement.
Much appreciated.
Rob

Re: Transmission cooler hose setup
On mine, the T for the stuffing box is just below where the hose enters the wet elbow. I do not have a vented loop however there is a brass check valve the same kind you'd buy in a hardware store.
The tranny cooler is mounted below the main heat exchanger. On a Lehman 120, the engine oil cooler and the tranny cooler are the SAME part number. My tranny cooler gets the LAST raw water on the circuit before the wet elbow. There is a 90 deg elbow off the bottom (starboard side of engine) of the heat xchanger, then into the tranny cooler, then UP to the wet elbow.
Sorry no pics, I am using free wifi that is too slow to load any.

Re: Transmission cooler hose setup
Thanks jleonard for the T location info.
I'm assuming the small line portion on the T is pointing aft and that the stuffing box hose rises up before heading down towards the stuffing box?
Do others have a check valve installed?
Where is the brass check walve installed? and is the flow direction going towards the stuffing box?
Thanks.
P.S. If someone has a photo to share, that would be appreciated.

Well that is certainly nice. Surely not the case with the Yanmar, the tranny cooler is ~ $350, the engine oil cooler is likely 10 times thatjleonard wrote:.... On a Lehman 120, the engine oil cooler and the tranny cooler are the SAME part number...

Where is the brass check walve installed? and is the flow direction going towards the stuffing box? Yes of course or there would be NO water going in that direction
Thanks.

Re: Transmission cooler hose setup
Quick note of warning...
My 36 DC had it's engine hydrolocked just before I bought it...caused by the failure of the vented loop to the stuffing box. Whatever is used to vent that loop should be of the best quality available, and maintained with great care. In this case, the failed vent was one with a rubber duckbill style...notorious for failing when they get salt on them.
