Where does your boat 'live'?

Post by DougSea »

I was looking over the marina site that Denis posted and of course I had to go find the club where I keep my boat. I wasn't sure if it would be in there since we're a private (although very welcoming of visitors) club on Long Island Sound.

Sure enough we're in there. Thought I'd post the link for you guys to see where my Albin lives, wondered if you could find yours and post them.

Here's my home:

http://marinas.com/view/marina/3640

The default view is looking pretty much due East down the sound. If any of you went to the Norwalk Boat Show you'd have seen us if you looked east from the main parking area.

Veebyes is right - I've spent at least an hour looking around my favorite spots - and I'm sure there's more to come. I haven't really checked out the site to learn more about it yet - maybe after the game tomorrow.

Doug,

That is a beautiful spot. Is everyone on a mooring there?

Since I'm not at a marina, this is the best I could find. My pier is the second from the left. The shack is under all those trees.

Your spots look great!!

The default view is looking west over the Island of Alameda. Look for the red hull. It's the only Albin in this Marina! I'm straight across for the Grand Marina buidling. In some of the other views looking East you will see Coast Guard Island and a couple of the Cutters.

Well, Marinas.com has not discovered Bermuda yet so google earth will have to do. Lucky for us the detail is fairly good.

We will see if the copy & paste works.

The first view shows both boats, near center, in winter storage.

http://perljam.net/google-satellite-map ... ///Bermuda

The next two show our in water summer homes. The sat photo was taken during the winter months so the boat is not in either but we move it from one mooring to another in the center of each view depending on the weather.

The mooring is just off the NW corner from the hotel.

The preferred mooring in center of a much better protected bay. Unfortunately I only borrow this one.

RATS!!!! It won't copy & paste zoomed up views.

Won't let me right click on the view to copy either. Any ideas?

Doug,
Will it let you email a view to yourself? Then you could try a cut/paste from the email.

Here's my home. When they took this picture I was out on the water. If you zoom in you can see my red Jeep Cherokee parked by my slip.

I'm the third row of boats from the far end, near the sea end of the fairway.

For the last fifteen years, our summer home was Spicers marina in Noank CT. This summer we will be at our new Dockominium at Mystic Cove Marina in Mystic CT. Our new slip is a 40' slip on the south side facing out into the open Mystic river. The view should be beautiful, I can't wait. I to have spent a lot of time checking out many different areas and it's fun to see where my fellow Albin owners call home. Has anyone registered at that web site, what does that get you? Denis

It's a free site. As best I can tell, by registering you get to send post cards to your friends. You can't download any pictures, even after sending them to yourself. They want you to buy them. All in all, it's fun to play around on. Oh yeah, you get to keep a list of favorite places too.

Thanks John,

Yup, we're all on moorings. Very convienient during the season, just drop the lines over the side and you're on your way. A little more challenging in the off season when the launches aren't running. I've also got to find myself a 'huricane hole' to hide in. The old boat would go on it's trailer and get parked in a lot away from any trees. Little more difficult with a non-trailered boat!

If you (or any AOGers) head up through the Sound this summer let me know and we'll arrange for a guest mooring and a visit to the Island, sit back and have a beer or two!

Third boat from the end, at the end of the pier with the boatlift. This is a pretty recent photo, as we just got a new enclosure this past summer!

Second dock from the left, 3 slips from the walkway at the top of the picture. You can see Tuxedo's black hull and pilothouse clearly.

Marina is in downtown Charleston five minutes from the house (plus or minus depending on how many tourists I run over :D ).

Brewer Sakonnet Marina is just a little ways North of Newport on Aquidneck Island. Nice quiet spot.

BTW - trick for getting a copy of the picture. Press ctrl-alt-printscrn all at the same time. This captures an image of your screen. Open photo editing (photoshop) program and paste the image. then you can edit as needed.

Jeep

Post by TonyAmalfitano »

Yep, that thar be my Jeep backed up to my empty slip. Two boats over is a 1974 Chris Craft 34, that my friend rebuild. He won't be there this year, the prick bought a house with dock space. I'll be moored in the slip starboard of the Chris Craft this year.

I knew someone would figure a way to backdoor saving the pictures from that site. Thank you!!!
