Coaming box insert? What is this thing called?

Post by Nancy »

It's hard to buy something when you don't know what it's called. :?

What are these little caps called and where can I find them? The ones on our boat are brittle and broken.

It's a rod grommet.

Search rod grommet on AOG. You will find a three from awhile back on the same subject. I believe someone identified what appeared to be an exact replacement.

Wow, you're not missing a thing, very cool, you are making that TE very happy. The new rod grommets look good for a short time, the rubberish material that they use does not take long at all to yellow. But they still look better than dried out, cracked and/or deformed ones.

Rob,

Yeah, she's starting to look good for a 17YO. Faucets, carpet, head, anchor, fridge, LED's, head sole inspection port, varnish, etc., etc.

Our rod grommets are cracked and some are broken. Hmm, the new ones yellow quickly? Any suggestions for a replacement? Maybe a plain grommet would be better without the rubber material? We aren't using them for rods anyway.
