28TE new refrigerator
We've replaced the original Norcold DC340D refrigerator which didn't get cold and was just plain nasty:
The new fridge is an Isotherm Cruise CR49. It's a little bigger and was a pretty easy fit. It just had to go up 2", which required cutting the fiberglass, and we need a trim board at the bottom:
The beer is getting cold right before the long weekend, so the project is a success!

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
So if it had to go higher I am guessing it is a little deeper of a unit and was hitting the angle of the hull..Is that correct? Does that mean that this fridge has more usable interior space? Looks good and you have the Cetol color so you can go with wood or starboard trim. Enjoy the fridge and the beer.

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
Nancy, I am glad you got the fridge in. My depth was not enough because the hull rise. In fact after I cut the top of the opening, still would not go in, Had to install mnoulding to cover up the unwanted "vent" hole when I installed the Nova-Cool.

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
When I read Max's post I thought why not put a vent there? Air flow/ventilation could only help there. Something like this if it could be found in the proper size. Just a thought...Serenity wrote:... to cover up the unwanted "vent" hole....

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
Rob, yes, the back of the Isotherm is angled at the bottom, but it still hit the hull, so that's why it had to go up. And yes, the interior is deeper than the previous Norcold. 20 cans will fit on the bottom, and either 16 or 20 on the middle shelf. 1.5L water bottles also fit lying down. I'm very satisfied with it.
Max, I've forgotten - did you try the Isotherm CR49? How odd that it didn't fit. There must be something just slightly different about the way your galley cupboard is constructed.

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
I meant to post a photo a long time ago of the finished project. A simple piece of teak took care of the gap at the bottom of the opening.

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
VERY nice galley Nancy. I guess that's a dishtowel bar on the door? At first glance I thought it was a handle and you converted the swinging door to a tilt out trash receptacle. I do recall one of your earliest posts where you had just acquired Nancy Lee and you posted "Where do you put a trash can?!"

Re: 28TE new refrigerator
Thanks, Rob. Yes, that's a towel bar because otherwise, where do you hang a kitchen, er, galley towel?. In reality, it's a very large drawer pull from Lowe's. I decided it looked enough like a cleat to qualify it for boat use.
As for the trash can dilemma, I found a tiny black Rubbermaid can with a lid and foot pedal that holds a plastic grocery bag for a liner. It normally sits under the dinette table, but travels as needed.
