sorry for so many posts today, but boating season is near!
I'm getting a pretty constant stream of water leaking from the rudder post causing the bilge pump to kick on daily. The packing nut is tightened all the way down, so I'm planning on getting her on the grid and replacing the packing.
Just so I'm prepared, does anyone know the size packing I need to buy for the for a 28TE rudder?
Thanks,

Re: Rudder packing size
If no one knows the packing size, does anyone know how to determine the correct size? The exact size of the "gap" or larger and push in?

Good to see my posts and photos don't go un-noticedDougSea wrote:Rob! You don't know?? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!! I was expecting exact stats and a photo montage of a packing replacement!
Have yet to repack my rudder. Probably one of the only things left on her that I haven't either maintained or updated. I have replaced the rudder shoe bearing, steering cylinder and bonding wire and also installed a rudder reference unit, so the rudder hasn't been totally neglected
So, Robb, what's the outcome?
