Pacific Northwest Rendezvous Plans

Post by dkircher »

Hi all,

Albiners Howard, Pat and Dave met in Anacortes earlier today to check out Cap Sante for our upcoming rendezvous.

As a result we are proposing a rendezvous at Cap Sante Marina this July, likely the weekend of July 20th, with boats arriving Friday and staying until Sunday. Summer rates are $1.10 per foot per night plus a small charge for electricity ($4 daily for 30 amp service).

Cap Sante has completed a major dock replacement program, so now the entire facility is very modern. Slips are 40' to 60' with the change only for the length of the boat. So those of us with smaller boats will have lots of space!

Cap Sante has a terrific rendezvous program. By late Spring, they will have party barges (aka activity floats, but for Albiners that means party!) that can be located near the participating boats. The barges will be perfect gathering places with tables, chairs and barbeque grills.

Here is a more complete list of their amenities:

Clean restrooms
Free bikes for guest use
1/2 acre dog park
Close to downtown shops, restaurants and a movie theater
Free Wifi
Free Friday night concerts
Competitive prices at a new fuel float.

So all we need now is an indication from fellow Albin owners that they will join us in Anacortes this summer.

Please post your response here or e-mail:

Dave - d2kircherATmsn.com

or

Howard - howard.wellsATsbcglobal.net

We hope to hear from you soon, since we would like to make reservations.

Just to clarify the moorage cost at Cap Sante. I used an incorrect word. The charge is per foot regardless of the slip size.

Again, please let us know of your interest in a July 2012 Rendezvous in Anacortes!

Pacific Northwest Rendezvous Plans - Reservations are made!

Post by dkircher »

We [Dave, Howard and Pat - your rendezvous team] now have reservations for our rendezvous at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes from July 20th until July 22nd. At this point we have told the marina to expect 15 boats. Please let us know if you might be able to attend. You do not need to make a firm commitment at this time! Two weeks before the event, I’ll need to provide a list of those who will definitely attend. There is no need to respond if you have told one of us of your plans.

We selected the venue after careful consideration of the travel distances from both BC and central/south Puget Sound.

Of course, the amenities in Anacortes are many and those of us who have spent time there think highly of the city. As we posted earlier, Cap Sante has wonderful new docks and an activity barge available to rendezvous groups.

As we get closer to the event, we’ll be sharing an exciting agenda. Fortunately our experienced east coast AOG members have provided us with lots of ideas about how to plan a successful rendezvous.

There is a good chance we will be able to make it, but can't quite make a firm commitment just yet.

It's official, Nordvika, and the entire clan will be there; me, my wife, and my folks. And one black lab.

Blue Moon (36 Express Trawler) will be there. Maybe those of us from Central and South Puget Sound could form a flotilla on the way up.
We will be continuing North after the rendezvous for a 3 to 4 week cruise to Desolation Sound and other points of interest.
We've moored Blue Moon at Cap Sante for the last three summers. Agree it is a great facility, as well as the perfect jumping off point for cruising.
Mariner, we'll be accompanied by two West Highland Terriers. Salty little dogs.

Nordvika just left Edmonds after picking up some fuel and lunch. Navigator says our ETA is 20:00, but I expect we will be closer to 21:00, as we are not going to hit the tides in the slough at the ideal time.
