Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
Hi,
I’m in need of some assistance from my fellow Albin FC owners. In January, I purchased a 1987 27' Albin FC (love the boat), but the lettering of the switches and controls at the helm have faded away. When I purchased the boat, I made a diagram identifying the layout of the switches......but can't seem to find my notes.
Has anyone ever had new lettering added to the controls at the helm and if so, what did you use / how was it done?
If someone could send me pictures of their control panel that showed the lettering for the controls and switches I would be most grateful. If it would be easier, I could email a layout of the panel and you could “fill in the blanks.”
Thanks for your assistance, guidance and suggestions!
Regards,
John

You should post a picture of the panel.

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
Hello again,
I took a picture of the control panel and also found my diagram ....ok, my wife found the diagram, but I could have sworn that I looked everywhere.....but I still can't find my notes. So, any guidance on what a few of the switches are and what they control and the best way to re-lable them so you can read them would be great. Here is what I can tell so far:
Left side 3 switches
1. Port Fuel & Starboard Fuel
2. ?
3. Wipers?
Right side 5 switches
1. Accy
2. Accy
3. ?
4. Horn
5. Auto / Manual (Bilge?)
Thanks again for any assistance!!

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
From your picture, I would say that the right side switch #3 is for your navigational and anchor lights.
Can't deduce what the left side switch #2 is for, with any accuracy...
Trust that others will jump in...
Have fun,

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
Well, I have a A27 but not with that panel. But based on your photo...
I agree with N4QC about the nav/anchor light switch. Also, it looks like your question marks are indeed what they are (wipers and bilge pump).
As far as that switch number two... Does it say "PORT" or perhaps "DOCK"? Sometimes I take a flashlight and look at a panel at an angle and you MAY be able to see a shadow of the missing lettering. Good luck, trace it out if you have to but at least it's only one switch's worth.
And PLEASE post the answer to this mystery when you find out!

I believe switch # 2 is the dome light. I have a 1988 AC and that's what my switch #2is. my letters are hard to read too. I'd welcome any suggestions on how to redo them

"DOCK"..."DOME"... Same thing. Isn't it?
Yeah, I can see a "DOME" in there too, now that you mention it. I reset my monitor to 200% zoom and I can see it's a definite possibility.
"I keep hitting this switch on my dash trying to figure out what it's for and I just can't... And the darn dome light keeps going on and off while I'm trying to concentrate!"

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
Hetek,
You're a funny guy! I laughed so hard my wife came down to the den to see what was so funny!
I will hook up my batteries this weekend and try the "DOME" switch and see what happens. I wish I could come up with a funny / sarcastic comeback, but I can't!

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
I have a fairly powerful work computer and graphics program. Looks like it's definitely a dome light switch. (attached) Hope this helps. As for refurbishing the labels, a trophy or sign shop that does engraving can make new ones. I've used black and white "lamicoid" with d/s tape for this exact purpose and got very professional results.

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
Thanks for the info! I like the engraving idea, have small "name tag" like plates made up and adhere them next to each switch; will also look into the "lamicid" too.
Will provide updates as I do some research.

Re: Albin 27 FC Helm control panel
As part of this winter's new dashboard project I did away with the dash mounted switch panel. For the horn I went with a momentary push button switch. I had a local shop make up this badge out of lamicoid. If you give him a sketch with dimensions he will make whatever you need at a fair price. Rick is the person to ask for. Tell him Rob with the 28 Albin referred you, he is a personal friend of mine. Here is a link to the Contact page of his website: http://www.touchadjustclip.com/index.ph ... 07dfef57a8
