Prospective Captain Seeks Vessel

Post by plossl »

Hello, I am a new member from Greenwood, South Carolina. I have promised the Admiral that I will only look. She has in turn agreed, in principle, that I will have completed due diligence by June 2012, and may then proceed with a contract to purchase. I am looking for the right Albin 25, gentlemen, and I ask your assistance. A sound hull is first, but I am willing to look at boats needing interior work or engine replacement. I am also looking for well-tended gems. Any suggestions you can offer about what to look for or look out for or where to look will be greatly appreciated.

For a time I considered the Albin 27 Family Cruiser, but I want to trailer the boat to Florida and I am concerned that this is just too big an undertaking. My diesel truck will handle it, but I am a lazy, older man and it just seems simpler to go small. First question: Am I right to view the 27 as considerably more difficult to tow and launch and retrieve than the venerable 25? Plossl.
