Well now I've gone & done it!!!
Hi All:
I'm now the new owner of a 36 Express Trawler, 2001, with so much to learn & a newbie learning curve to get thru, as it's twice the wt & volume I'm used to. The new name is, At Last, having waited some time, looking and learning a lot first, esp from this forum. Will be brief for now, as I'm headed up to Annapolis to prep it and bring it down to NC with the help of an experienced trawler friend. Will do a (not so) new member intro in the near future.

Marko: Great move. Nice size boat and your chosen name is excellent. Lots of us have had that experience "At Last". Enjoy the trip down. Nice to have the experienced friend and help. I am also hoping to finally move my Nibbes down to its home port this weekend - weather permitting. That will be Richmond, BC to Anacortes, Wa. How long is your run Annapolis to NC? Use caution and enjoy. I also have another AOG member helping me get down to the perm home port. Not a run I would want to do alone for the first time out with the boat.
Congratulations on your fine.

Howard: let me know how your run goes, I'll be going about 340+/- st mi, maybe 4-5 days,
weather dependent, etc. We'll be taking it easy at first to shake down the boat and for us to get a feel for it. Happy trails. Mark

Congratulations! We bought our Albin in Annapolis, too, but we had it shipped to NC on a flatbed trailer due to time constraints. May you have a BON VOYAGE!

Marko: That is a very serious run. Is the weather and sea conditions fine this time of year for such a long run? We are set for Sat 9am weather permitting and provided my sea trial is fine Fri. Has not been to the water since Georgian Bay a couple months back. Long story.
Good Luck

Re: Well now I've gone & done it!!!
Marko, congratulations! I know the feeling. We just bought a 86 Albin 43 Sundeck in September. Picked her up in Pompano Beach, FL. and brought her back by water to Fall River MA. I am sure we went right through your home waters. Took 15 days but very worth it. And that name "At Last" I know that is the perfect choice for your Albin. I felt the same way about our Albin but didn't think of putting it on her transom. Great choice! Great choice! Both boat and name. Can't wait to see your future postings.
Best of luck to you,

Re: Well now I've gone & done it!!!
Not sure what engine you have, but on my Cummins 6BTA, there is a red reset button on the top of my engine. Although it may not be obviously tripped, it still may be causing the problem. Mine had a bad wire connection on the bottom; it never tripped. But it connects the wiring harness from the engine to the bridge. My engine would stall out because the oil pressure would drop to nothing (on the gauges) when actually it was fine. I jury rigged a wire from a 12 volt source to the back of the gauges, and ran the boat for almost a year, before I finally figured it out. And the only way I did figure it out was by loosening and moving the red relay and saw an arc under it. You may have a similar situation.
By the way, this happened in Norfolk as well; after running the boat all the way from FL. Had a Cummins guy come down, $800 and three days later, we took off, went a mile and the engine died again. That;s when we figured out how to bypass the problem; then it blew like stink for 3 days and we had to stay put before venturing north again. Good thing there was a Hooter's at the City marina; made life bearable. OK more than bearable!!

Thanks for the info, they are Cummins 330B's and I'll check out that reset button when I'm back on board, now next week. When I continue with Part 2, I'll be under the cruising forum. Will also shift some technical things to the Albin 36 TE forum.

HEY THERE MARK!!! It was good to meet up with you in Belhaven! I wish we could have had a longer visit as we could sure swap stories. I hope all went well for your final leg of the trip. We made it to Seagate Marina without a hitch. Nice place to hang out. Not too close to town, but certtainly a good stopover.
Let's keep in touch.
