32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
Would be interested to know the fuel burn at cruise and hull speed on a 32 or 32+2 Command Bridge with Cummins 315 engine.
Thank you--
Thank you--

Re: 32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
I have the 315hp in my 96 32. Don't have fuel flow meter but kept track of fuel bought & time on the clock. Most of my cruising was at hull speed, often towing a 14' skiff, sometimes a burst of fast cruise when not towing, a little bit of genny time & the whole thing came to an average of about 3 gph.

Thank you!
I gather you're not using your 32 any more? I missed the part where you acquired a 27AC. Is she berthed stateside and you visit with your RV?

Had a 1986 A27AC 1986-1999. Current 1996 A32 aquired 1999, used very frequently till 2006. In storage now. 2007-2011 over 80,000 RV miles.

Re: 32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
Hello Albin 32 and 32+2 Owners - has anyone with either boat completed the Great Loop Trip and recorded their fuel consumption? My wife and I plan on purchasing a 32+2 in the near future and expect to run the 5,000 to 6,000 miles at trawler speed (7-8 knots) for about two thirds of the time and up on plane (14 or 15 knots) about one third of the trip. We're trying to estimate fuel usage to get some kind of an idea on how much to budget for diesel fuel. Please let us know if you have the Cummins or a Yanmar 370hp engine. Also, any info on diesel fuel consumption of your genset will be appreciated.

Re: 32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
I have a rebuilt Albin 32 with a Cummins 370 (Factory re-manufactured 2004 engine). My mileage runs about 1.5 to 1.8 nautical miles per gallon. It all depends on many variables. I was out yesterday returning from a short cruise and adjusted the trim tabs and speed went up 1 kt. One time I actually got 2 Kmiles per gallon. I know of one 1989 model with a 230 hp Cummins that burns less than 6 gal per hour. I think the 32 is lighter and more fuel efficient than the 32+2.
Also the new Cummins 380 with computer controlled common rail engine is even better.

My 32 with a 330 Cummins (2003 installed) burns 8 GPH @ 15-16 kts. I wouldn't recommend running at trawler speed all day every day. You need to put a load on the engine every now and then.

Re: 32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
Thanks Jprohan for the info and recommendation. The mechanical experts seem to agree with you on putting a load on the engine often to clear out any buildup of carbon or other deposits. We will most likely be up on plane more often than at trawler speed.
Re: 32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
I have YACHTA YACHTA, a '94 CB repowered with a 2002 Yanmar 370hp, including a fuel flow meter. Know that I keep her a bit under-propped. At 1,000 - 1,200 rpm it burns 1+ gph. At 14.5 - 17 kts, which depends upon load (the amount of fuel and water in the tanks), at 2,950rpm, the fuel flow indicator reads 12 - 13gph. I've done a run from the fuel dock in Coconut Grove (Miami) to the fuel dock in Fort Myers Beach many times. It is almost exactly 200nm each time. My nmpg as calculated using the odometer on the Garmin GPS and the fill at the dock, runs 1.3 - 1.4nmpg for that trip, which is done almost fully 'at speed'.

Re: 32/32+2 Command Bridge fuel consumption
We have a Cummins Recon 315 in our 96 32+2 and my fuel burn is about 13-14 gph at 2600rpm and ~18kts. MUCH less at hull or trolling speeds. Consistent with other replies. Of course load, wind, current, trim, etc make a difference too.
